Railway Wheel Sinkers
We first started adapting scrap railway wheels for use as mooring use over 20 years ago, they generally weigh between 250 and 300kgs and can be stacked to increase weight if required. These wheels have a concave underside which increases holding power.
If required we can weld a short length of heavy chain to the centre of the wheel via a 40mm cross-section of round steel, the heavy chain will drastically reduce the snatch effect which causes additional wear on riser chain and bow fittings.
